Lipolytic Injections
A non-surgical procedure to diminish localized fat deposits

About
Lipolytic Injections
What are Lipolytic Injections?
Lipolysis is a procedure used to dissolve stubborn localised fat deposits targeting deeper layers underneath the skin. This procedure is specifically meant for areas of fat that are resistant to the effects of weight loss through healthy dieting and exercise.
Why are lipolytic injections an effective aesthetic treatment?
An active substance is injected directly into the subcutaneous tissue with the aim to destroy localised fat deposits, without affecting surrounding fat tissue. The main role of active ingredient that is usually used, is to help emulsify and break down fat and cholesterol.
What are the common areas treated?
-
Love handles
-
Saddle bulge
-
Bra bulge
-
Stomach
-
Jowls
-
Double chin
How many lipolytic sessions do I need?
The number of sessions needed differs from one person to the next due to individual responses to the medication and the type of fat being treated. Soft, stubborn fat is easier to treat than fibrous fat. During the consultation, you will be informed as to how many sessions you will need to achieve your desired result. Very small areas such as a double chin respond well to treatments and may take only 2-3 sessions whereas other areas may require 4 or more treatment.
Do lipolytic injections require anaesthesia?
This procedure can be done under local anaesthesia
What are the risks of lipolytic injections?
The procedure is considered to be safe, it uses vitamin C and iron and once injected into the body triggers a naturally occurring physiological process called apoptosis (natural cell death).
The contraindications to Ceccarelli lipolysis include allergy to ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and/or to iron, bleeding disorders, using anticoagulants, dyslipidaemia, pregnancy, breast breastfeeding, diabetes mellitus, compromised immune system including AIDS, stroke, recent cancer, blood clots, liver disease, serious kidney disease, active skin infection – bacterial or viral as well as known allergy to any ingredient used during mesotherapy procedure.
Possible risks and side effects include but are not limited to bruising, bleeding, swelling, discomfort, pain, burning sensations, skin discolouration, blisters, ulceration, lumpiness, hardness of the treated area, nodule formation at the injection sites as well as infection, allergic reactions, dizziness and nausea. Most of these side effects are temporary.
What results can I expect from lipolytic injections?
There is no downtime, but patients may experience swelling, bruising, pain, redness and feel areas of hardness that typically soften with time. Fat reduction is typically visible by eight weeks.
When should one start with lipolytic injections?
This is patient-dependent. Ideally once a goal weight is achieved and there are small areas of stubborn fat pockets that do not reduce with a healthy diet and exercise
Can lipolytic injections be combined with other treatments?
Yes, the procedure can be combined with other slimming procedures for example cryolipolysis (fat freezing, cool sculpting), ultrasonic cavitation, radiofrequency, Vellashape etc.
How is the procedure performed?
The solution is mixed fresh on the same day of the treatment by a doctor. The formula is only available to medical practitioners who were trained in this procedure. The solution is injected into localized fat pockets (fat tissue under the skin) in a grid-like pattern. On the body, 1 ml per site (1 cm2) is injected. On the face 0.5 ml per site. An area of two hands is the largest area which can be treated in one session with a maximum of 200 ml solution injected (200 injections). A topical anaesthetic cream (numbing cream) is applied 20-30 minutes prior to the procedure. There is a certain degree of discomfort experienced by patients during the injections, which varies individually, from minimal to severe.
Depending on the area treated the procedure might take up to 1 hour (which includes the time of topical anaesthesia).
How soon can I see the results
Slow and gradual improvement can be seen after 3 weeks, and the maximum results are seen after 8 weeks.
What are the post-procedure recommendations
One should stay hydrated. It is important to maintain healthy body weight as the new weight gain will result in the regrowth of fat cells.
What is the cost of the lipolytic injections procedure?
The cost depends on the amount of the solution used.
What brand of lipolytic injection does Dr Carmen use?
Ceccarelli:
It is a mesotherapy solution formulated by an Italian Professor Maurizio Ceccarelli which contains vitamin C and a minute amount of iron. The vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in higher doses works as a pro-oxidant; when mixed with iron and injected into the fat tissue it initiates the Fenton reaction leading to generation of hydroxyl type radicals. These radicals trigger natural death of fat cells by a physiological process called apoptosis.
Why should I consider Dr Carmen for my Lipolytic injections?
It’s important to have the procedure done by a trained professional
